The Wonderful World of Trinkets- Say and Play Mini Objects™

We here at Speech and Smile love what we do! We get the chance to work with so many great kids. On the speech side, we evaluate and work with children who are having trouble communicating. We work with really young kids who, for whatever reason, are just having problems speaking. We find that play therapy, a child-led approach, is most effective. Other kids have trouble with certain sounds, and we have the expertise and methods available to help them over these hurdles.

On the tutoring side, we work with kids of all ages (we have had kids as young as kindergarten and as old as 8th grade) who are struggling with some aspect of learning. We are here to help with students on whatever they need support with, whether it be in reading, writing, math, spelling, science, social studies or homework help. We offer support to students who attend traditional schools as well as homeschooled students. 

We also offer our space for author events, birthday parties, and even CPR training. We host sensory play and learn sessions, play groups, special art events, and we have plans in the works for some speech camps and reading/writing camps this coming summer. Stay tuned for more on that front.

But did you also know that a HUGE part of our company is a retail and wholesale business of mini-trinkets? Seriously, you should see the inner workings of our offices. There are millions of trinkets, meticulously sorted and neatly stacked on shelves. There are prep trays for wide varieties of our products for easy filling, there are boxes and bags, stickers, cards, labels, and lists. We have a content making station, a retail spot, and newly installed, a 3D printer which has been working tirelessly over the last few weeks to up our trinket game. The space really is a wonder to behold. In this week’s blog, we want to feature some of our most popular trinket kits. We think you’ll be impressed and want to go right out and snag a few!

First up, we have our Say and Play Mini Object™ Story Kits. These fabulous kits come with a book and a series of mini trinkets that pair with the book. To build these kits, we scour the book for places, objects, animals, foods, or whatever is contained in them, and then we find mini trinkets to match them. Then, while reading the book, kids can interact with the story, find the objects, say the names, and match them with the story. These kits support language development through play. Kits can be purchased with or without the book. In some of the kits, the objects are 3D printed to specifically match the characters or items in the book. Another category of kits which are super popular are the Say and Play Mini Object™ Alphabet kits. We have a wide variety of these kits to suit most any need. Our most basic kit is our Alphabet Mini Object kit. This kit comes with 26 bags, each labeled with a hearty vinyl sticker featuring both upper and lowercase versions of the letters of the alphabet. Within each small bag are 5 mini trinkets that begin with that letter. If desired, the labels can be peeled off the bags and affixed to your own storage system. Each kit comes with a list of the objects inside.

The next step up of a kit comes in a large plastic, partitioned box and contains the 26 letters of the alphabet, with the 5 objects per letter, and in addition, sections with diagraphs -sh, -th, -ch, -ph, -wh, and -kn.

We also have alphabet jars, with each jar containing 182 mini object (7 items per letter jar). The jars are labeled for easy storage and organization. Each kit also comes with small alphabet letter mats for the students to sort the objects onto.

We also have our alphabet sets with 7 objects per letter that comes in a beautiful rainbow box set. It is compact and organized. Perfect for any classroom or home.

We have comprehensive kits that include over 300 mini objects. These portable Say and Play Mini Object™ Speech Sound kits come with 15 objects per sound, 5 each of initial, middle, and ending sounds. This fabulous kits includes trinkets for the sounds: B, P, T, D, K, G, M, N, F, V, S, Z, J, L, R, SH, CH, and TH (both voiced and voiceless), as well as L, R, and S blend pouches with 10 mini items each, and glides H, W, and Y with 5 objects each in the initial position. The kits include prompt cards and sound tip cards. All these kits and many more versions are available on our website.

We have recently reintroduced Story Crate Subscription kits. Believe it or not, these kits, which we used to sell a few years ago, got so popular that we could not keep up with demand. Now that we have more people in our offices, we have decided to bring them back. This is a monthly curated box which features a book, as well as mini objects and activities to accompany it. These kits change each month and kids are excited to receive their surprise box in the mail. It is meant to spark language literacy and imaginative play. Subscribers will know the monthly theme, but the book and objects will remain a surprise until it is opened. Each kit contains a book, a mini-object story kit to pair with it, print and play activities to extend learning, and a surprise extra (playdoh, large play object, kinetic sand, etc.) This service can be purchased for 1 month (just trying it out), 3 months, or 6 months
